His Excellency Mr. Joel Bouzou, Ambassador-at-large of the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG) and Founder and President of Peace and Sport said that traditional sports and games have become diplomatic solutions which promote unity, social cohesion and contribute to the protection of the environment on the occasion of the International Day of Traditional Sports and Games on 14 August 2022.
In his Official Message on International Day he said, "Traditional Sports and Games are an intangible cultural heritage and a symbol of cultural diversity. In numerous countries, they have become diplomatic solutions which promote unity, social cohesion and contribute to the protection of the environment. Because they are close to the local and regional practices and culture, they have more diplomatic impact than sports that are well known."
He further highlighted that they are low-cost and high-impact tools to achieve peace and development. Mr. Bouzou also affirmed Peace and Sport's commitment as he mentioned "Peace and Sport fully supports the implementation of policies that preserve and promote traditional sports and games, so they can play their full potential towards achieving more inclusive and peaceful societies."
