International Council of Traditional Sports and Games On the ocassion of the International Day of Traditional Sports and Games, being celebrated on 14 August 2024, Her Excellency Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences of UNESCO, released her Official Statement highlighting the importance and value of traditional sports and games and how they connect societies to their cultural heritage and roots.
Dear friends and colleagues in traditional sports,
On behalf of the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games, I would like to extend my thanks for your invaluable and continuous support for the safeguarding and promotion of traditional sports and games.
On the occasion of the International Day of Traditional Sports and Games in the year of 2024, President of the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG) Mr. Khalil Ahmed Khan, said that "this day serves as a powerful reminder of the vibrant cultural heritage embedded in our traditional sports and games, which are integral to the fabric of our societies."
The International Council of Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG) proudly participated in the United Nations' esteemed Summit of the Future 2024, held at UN Headquarters in New York from September 20-23, 2024. This summit, being held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, brought together Heads of State, experts, and organizations to tackle pressing global challenges and to adopt the Pact for the Future, which emphasizes on taking bold, equitable, and transformative actions to advance the 2030 Agenda and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Mr. Joel Bouzou OLY, President of Peace and Sport and World Olympians Association joined the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG) as Ambassador-at-Large after his appointment by President ICTSG Mr. Khalil Ahmed Khan on 14th October 2019.
