SEWEN Stage – Safeguarding Endangered Traditional Sports with ICTSG SEWEN stands for Safeguarding Endangered Wisdom of Ethnic Nations. It is the foundational stage of the ICTSG Traditional Sports and Games (TSG) Elevation Framework, aimed at identifying, preserving, and supporting traditional sports that exist primarily through oral tradition, cultural practice, or endangered heritage. 🔰 What is the SEWEN Stage? SEWEN recognizes traditional games that may lack formal documentation but are rich in symbolic, ritual, or community value. These games are often passed down through storytelling, play, and collective memory, and are at risk of disappearing without institutional support. SEWEN is ICTSG’s call to action for communities and cultural institutions to preserve these treasures before they fade into history. 📌 Qualification Criteria for SEWEN
Transmitted primarily through oral tradition Played locally without formal documentation Ethnic or indigenous community-based origin Ritualistic, seasonal, or symbolic gameplay At risk of extinction due to modernization or lack of players
