Ravi Sahu- Secretary Research Commission-ICTSG Ravi Sahu’s journey is one of dedication, innovation, and a deep-rooted belief in the transformative power of sports. Born on February 23, 1981, in India, Mr. Sahu has emerged as a respected international figure in sports management education and advocacy, with an unwavering commitment to Traditional Sports and Games (TSG). His work bridges continents, cultures, and disciplines—uniting ancient traditions with modern management practices. With a solid foundation in commerce and a master’s degree in marketing from the prestigious Sydenham Institute in Mumbai, Ravi began his professional career in the fast-paced corporate world. From managing distribution networks at Nestlé India to driving sales strategies in the Middle East with City Centre Supermarkets LLC in Dubai, he proved his mettle early on. But it was his passion for education and sports that would define the true course of his career. In 2010, Ravi transitioned to academia and joined HVPM in Amravati, Maharashtra, where he served for nearly a decade as Assistant Professor and Head of the MBA (Sports & Marketing) program. He spearheaded international collaborations, developed cutting-edge curricula, and helped position HVPM as a key hub for sports education in India. His leadership extended to the prestigious MIT World Peace University in Pune, where he now leads the Sports Management Programme, shaping future leaders in the global sports industry. A recognized expert by UNESCO, Mr. Sahu has been a valued member of the Ad-hoc Advisory Committee on Traditional Sports and Games. His presence at international meetings in Paris, Istanbul, Ashgabat, Almaty, Mauritius, and Colombia has helped promote TSG within the framework of UNESCO’s mission for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. He has also contributed meaningfully to course development in Sri Lanka and participated in academic exchange programs in Denmark, facilitating cross-cultural knowledge exchange in traditional physical culture. Ravi’s organizational acumen is evident in the many global conferences and workshops he has led—on themes ranging from yoga and global well-being to sports for all and rope-skipping. He has published in international journals on topics at the intersection of fitness, education, and consumer behavior, and is known for his ability to connect scholarly insight with real-world application. Beyond academia, Ravi Sahu has worn many hats: a successful entrepreneur in equity markets, an international coordinator, and a public speaker advocating for inclusive and sustainable sports systems. His leadership as President of the Indian Association of Sports for All (I-ASFA) and as a member of various professional bodies reflects a lifetime of service to the cause of sport, health, and youth development. At the heart of his work lies a profound respect for traditional knowledge systems. Ravi sees Traditional Sports and Games not as relics of the past, but as living legacies with the power to heal, educate, and unite communities. His vision aligns closely with the core mission of the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG): to preserve heritage, promote intercultural dialogue, and empower the next generation through meaningful engagement with traditional sports. In every classroom, conference, and committee room, Ravi Sahu brings with him not only expertise, but also humility and purpose. As the world looks to reimagine the future of sport in a changing world, his efforts remain a guiding light—reminding us that tradition, when honored and evolved, can be our most powerful tool for global well-being.
