The International Council of Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG) has announced the launch of its 2025-2026 Traditional Sports and Games Podcast Series, an ongoing digital media initiative designed to bring the voices of traditional sports communities to a global audience.
ABOUT THE SERIES The podcast explores the world's ancient games, indigenous sports, and folk traditions - examining their cultural significance, historical roots, and their role in promoting health, well-being, and sustainable development. Each episode features conversations with practitioners, elders, policymakers, youth athletes, and researchers from across the global TSG community.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE ICTSG is accepting requests from: - Traditional sports practitioners and community leaders - Cultural heritage experts and anthropologists - National chapter representatives and continental coordinators - NGOs, governments, and intergovernmental organizations working on TSG preservation - Youth advocates and educators integrating TSG into curricula
HOW TO APPLY Organizations and individuals interested in participating in the podcast series are invited to submit their profile and a brief description of their TSG work through the official ICTSG channels. Priority will be given to stories that highlight endangered sports, women's leadership in TSG, indigenous community-led preservation, and innovative digital approaches to heritage documentation.
THE BROADER VISION The podcast series is part of ICTSG's expanded communications strategy for 2025-2026, which includes video documentation, the Online Encyclopedia expansion, and partnerships with international broadcasters to bring traditional sports storytelling to mainstream audiences worldwide.
"When a sport disappears, it is like a language no longer spoken. When we revive a game, we revive a culture."
Khalil Ahmed Khan — President, ICTSG
