The Advisory Committee of the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG) is a distinguished body of international advisors who provide strategic guidance, regional expertise, and institutional credibility to ICTSG's global mission.

Role and Mandate

The Advisory Committee advises ICTSG leadership on global strategy, regional engagement, policy development, and institutional governance. Members serve as ICTSG's ambassadors within their regions and professional networks, opening doors to new partnerships and advocating for ICTSG's mission in their home countries.

Geographic Coverage

The Advisory Committee spans all six inhabited continents -- Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, Central Asia, the Arab World, Europe, and the Americas. This geographic breadth ensures that ICTSG's programs are informed by the realities of traditional sports communities in every region.

Africa

ICTSG's African Advisory Committee members bring expertise in engagement with African governments and the African Union, connections to regional cultural heritage bodies, and insight into the challenges facing traditional sports communities on the continent.

South and Southeast Asia

Distinguished members from across South and Southeast Asia bring expertise in traditional martial arts, cultural heritage law, academic research on traditional games, and government policy engagement. Their networks span universities, sports ministries, and cultural agencies.

Arab World

The Arab World's traditional sports -- falconry, camel racing, traditional equestrian sports, dhow sailing, and traditional wrestling -- are among the most richly supported traditional sports in the world. ICTSG's Arab World advisors provide expertise in these traditions and in the cultural heritage management frameworks of Gulf states.

Europe and the Americas

ICTSG's European and Americas advisors bring knowledge of traditional sports from Scottish Highland Games and Basque Pelota to indigenous Arctic games and Amazonian traditional sports. They provide expertise in engagement with European Union institutions and Latin American sports governance.

Working Method

The Advisory Committee meets at major ICTSG events and communicates regularly through written consultation. Individual members provide ongoing guidance on matters within their areas of expertise. ICTSG is committed to expanding the Advisory Committee as the organization grows and new regions engage.
