The International Council of Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG) extends its warmest greetings to all members of the traditional sports family worldwide on the occasion of the New Year 2023.

2022 was a year of significant advancement for ICTSG's global mission. Key highlights include:

INTERNATIONAL TSG DAY 2022: The 14th of August saw unprecedented global engagement, with official messages from world leaders including the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi, European Commissioner Mariya Gabriel, and ICTSG Ambassador-at-Large Joel Bouzou. The Day was celebrated by national chapters across five continents.

UNESCO PARTNERSHIP: ICTSG continued its close working relationship with UNESCO, including engagement at MINEPS VII (7th International Conference of Ministers on Physical Education and Sport) held in Baku, Azerbaijan, in June 2023.

AFRICA PROGRAMS: The Union of African Traditional Sports and Games (UATSG) made substantial progress in coordinating with African Union Commission programs, building toward the inaugural African Traditional Sports and Games Championship in Namibia 2026.

MEMBERSHIP GROWTH: New member federations including the Tatar Democratic Union (UDT) and the Japan Council of Traditional Sports and Games (JPNTSG) joined the ICTSG family, expanding our global network.

Looking forward to 2023, ICTSG's priorities include: - The African Traditional Sports and Games Photo Contest 2023 (accepting submissions May-June 2023) - The 1st Regional Workshop on documenting African TSG in Freetown, Sierra Leone (November 2023) - Continued development of the SRETS Elevation Framework - Engagement with the UN on the formal recognition of August 14 as International TSG Day
