On behalf of the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG) and its global family of traditional sports communities, President Khalil Ahmed Khan extends warm greetings to all on the occasion of the New Year 2022.

The year 2021 was a milestone year for ICTSG and for the global traditional sports movement. Among the most significant achievements:

THE WORLD MINISTERIAL VIRTUAL CONFERENCE (WMVC) on Traditional Sports and Games, held on August 14-15, 2021 on the occasion of International TSG Day, brought together over 600 participants from 90 countries including Ministers of Sport, Culture, Tourism and Youth. The Conference culminated in rich discussions on empowering women through TSG and revitalizing traditional sports at the national level.

THE ICTSG ADVISORY COMMITTEE, constituted in August 2020, has been actively providing guidance on ICTSG's programs and initiatives. The Committee's work spans Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Pacific, bringing together government officials, international sport federation representatives, and cultural heritage experts.

THE LAHORI GUR MELA 2021 showcased the extraordinary traditional games of Punjab, Pakistan, attended by international diplomatic missions and thousands of participants celebrating indigenous cultural sports in their living community context.

THE 9TH AFRICAN WRESTLING TOURNAMENT in Dakar, Senegal, saw ICTSG documentation teams witness the living tradition of Laamb wrestling - one of West Africa's most powerful cultural sporting institutions.

As we enter 2022, ICTSG renews its commitment to: - Completing the ICTSG Online Encyclopedia of Traditional Sports and Games - Advancing the First World Traditional Sports and Games initiative - Supporting the inaugural African Traditional Sports and Games Championship - Expanding national chapter networks across every continent

We thank all governments, international organizations, member federations, and traditional sports communities worldwide for their partnership in our shared mission.

Wishing all a prosperous and culturally rich New Year 2022.

Khalil Ahmed Khan President, International Council of Traditional Sports and Games
