As unique reflections of each region's identity, TSG promote social cohesion, physical well-being, and intergenerational knowledge transfer. This article presents a continental overview of traditional sports and games, preserving humanity's shared intangible heritage. Africa Africa's TSG reflect rich tribal diversity and ancient traditions, often tied to rites of passage and communal festivals. African traditional sports often serve community-building, initiation, and celebratory purposes. Senegal: Laamb (Traditional Wrestling involving music and rituals). Nigeria: Dambe (Boxing of the Hausa people) Ethiopia/Kenya: Genna (Stick and ball game played during Christmas)A form of field hockey played during Christmas festivities in Ethiopia. South Africa: Nguni Stick Fighting (Zulu heritage)Kho-kho variations and stick fighting among indigenous groups like the Zulu. West Africa: Dambe – A martial art traditionally practiced by Hausa people. Kenya & Uganda: Omweso / Bao (Strategic seed-sowing board games) North Africa: Fantasia (Morocco) – A horseback riding performance that reflects Berber and Arab military traditions.
