Chief) Dr Michael Shamsu Mustapha is the President for the African traditional sports and games confederation ATSGC, and Vice President for the International council of traditional sports and games ICTSG. He is from Sierra Leone and hold a doctorate degree in business administration specializing in leadership and diplomacy. He was awarded in march 2025 diplomat of the year award for outstanding contribution to cultural diplomacy through traditional sports and games. Dr Mustapha has been involved with TSG since 2016 during his time as Deputy Director of Sports at the government of Sierra Leone. He also attended the UNESCO TSG conference in Istanbul Turkey where ICTSG and ATSGC were established. He has attending numerous conferences advocating for a concerted effort to promoting and safeguarding traditional sports and games globally. He has received countless awards for his contribution towards the research and documentation of traditional sports and games.  Dr Mustapha has served as Member of the Commonwealth Advisory Body on Sports (CABOS), Special Advisor for UNESCO ICM, Expert member for the review of the ECOWAS Sports Policy, Focal Person for the UN Office for Counterterrorism (UNOCT), He currently serves as Expert Volunteer with the African Union Sports Council Region 2 (West Africa) Secretariat in Abuja, Nigeria.  Through his leadership as president for ATSGC, the organization has a membership of 38 countries and will hold the 1st and 2nd Editions of the African traditional games in Namibia 2026 and Zimbabwe 2028 respectively. The Confederation has developed a framework for the standardization and documentation of African traditional games, in the process of developing an online repository for the documented African games.
