These are the official highlights from Day 1 of the 4th UNESCO Collective Consultation on Traditional Sports and Games (TSG) meeting held in 2018 at Istanbul Turkey in collaboration of world ethnic Confederation (WEC). The consultation brought together Ministers, Government Representatives, Ambassadors, experts, practitioners, and stakeholders in the field of traditional sports from 80 countries across the world to discuss key issues related to the preservation and promotion of TSG worldwide.Day 1 focused on opening speeches, with influential figures such as Mr. Khalil Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the UNESCO TSG Advisory Committee,Bilal Erdugan Presdeint WEC, Marcellin Dally UNESCO Representative and Relevant Ministers from variuos countries setting the tone for the discussions. The day included presentations on the importance of TSG in fostering cultural diversity, physical well-being, and social cohesion. Experts shared their insights into current challenges faced by traditional sports and games, along with strategies to address them.Participants also discussed the development of collaborative initiatives to ensure the sustainable preservation of TSG across generations. The Statutes of the ICTSG were also presented by the secretariat to the participants of the forum comprised on the 80 Member States and relevant Ministers.
