International Association of Tradtional Wrestling Sports having headquarter in Moscow join hands with UNESCO Secretariat to emphsis the importance of the traditional sports and games. Purpose of the Meeting The consultation, initiated by UNESCO, gathered NGOs, IGOs, government representatives, and experts to explore ways to promote and develop Traditional Sports and Games (TSG). Build upon the outcomes of MINEPS IV (Athens 2004), the Magglingen Call to Action (2005), and UNESCO General Conference Resolution 21 (2005). Develop a "Draft Roadmap" for coordinated global efforts in the field of TSG.

Scientific Foundation: Efforts must be grounded in research, cataloging not only existing TSG but also their evolving features and applications in education, environment, culture, and sport. TSG should be seen as dynamic and evolving, not as static museum pieces. UNESCO was urged to lead global coordination and awareness campaigns, integrating TSG into existing activities and international frameworks. Schools should adopt TSG to make physical education culturally sensitive and accessible with minimal resources. Solidarity, peace, inclusivity, intergenerational learning, and respect were identified as core TSG values. Participants cautioned against using TSG for chauvinistic or nationalistic agendas, stressing a need for unity and cultural respect. Leadership & Coordination: UNESCO to lead as a neutral coordinator. Grassroots Approach: Emphasize a "bottom-up" method based on local initiatives. Realistic Action Plan: Focus on what is feasible with available resources. An informal Coordinating Committee for Traditional Sports and Games (CCTSG) to drive efforts under UNESCO’s guidance, working toward a formal International Council on TSG. Recognize TSG as Intangible Cultural Heritage. Promote ludodiversity (diversity of traditional play). Publish fact sheets, websites, textbooks, and more to document and promote TSG. Host an International TSG Congress for wider engagement and formalization of global collaboration. Chair: Mr. Djibril Diallo (UN Office, NY – Sport for Peace and Development) Reporters: Christophe Mailliet (ICSSPE), Marcellin Dally (UNESCO) Contributors: TAFISA, ISCA, IATWS, ISHPES, among others The report marks a pivotal moment in formalizing the global recognition of TSG. It places UNESCO at the heart of a global movement, and recognizes the vital role of IATWS and other organizations in preserving cultural heritage, promoting peace, and shaping inclusive, culturally rich societies through traditional play.
