The Union of African Traditional Sports and Games (UATSG) in collaboration with UNESCO Regional Offices in Africa has initiated a project for the research and dissemination of African traditional sports and games.
The Union of African Traditional Sports and Games (UATSG) and its partners with the support of the Government of Sierra Leone will be hosting the 1st Regional Workshop on validating a framework for the standardization and documentation of African Traditional Sports and Games from 27 to 28 November 2023 at the prestigious The View Hotel in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
The Ninth Edition of the African Wrestling Tournament 2021 was successfully held from 4th to 6th November 2021 at Dakar, Senegal under the auspices of Ministry of Sports of Senegal, Comite National de Gestion de la Lutte (CNGL) and Youth and Sports Development Centre of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The Union of African Traditional Sports and Games in collaboration with the ICTSG, UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Offices in Abuja and Nairobi, the African Union and the United Nations Office on Counter-terrorism is organizing its first African Traditional Sports and Games Photo Contest 2023, where photo submissions will be accepted from 01 May 2023 till 30 June 2023. The winner will be announced on 14 August 2023 on the occasion of the International Day of Traditional Sports and Games.
Ministerial Webinar on the Safeguarding and Promotion of Traditional Sports and Games (TSG) in Africa was held from 15 June 2021 till 17 June 2021 and was jointly organized by the African Traditional Sports and Games Confederation (ATSGC) and UNESCO Multi-sectoral Regional Offices for Western Africa in Abuja and Eastern Africa in Nairobi.
